Forrest Gump Meets West Texas

So as much as I complain that West Texas is flat, there are some hills if you look hard enough. I learned that the hard way when I ran a half-marathon last weekend at Buffalo Springs Lake (five miles out of town). It is supposedly the most challenging half-marathon in the state, mainly due to the monstrous hills. Somehow, I finished third in my division (it may have to do with the fact that there were only four males ages 30-34 running the race). But I'll take the medal anyway. No, I didn't see any buffaloes.
